Australian wine information

The Australian viticulture industry is the fourth largest exporter in the world, exporting over 400,000,000 litres a year to a large international export market that includes traditional wine-producing countries such as France, Italy and Spain. There is also a significant domestic market for Australian wines. The wine industry is an important contributor to the Australian economy through production, employment, export and tourism.

Major grape varieties are Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay , Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon, and Riesling. The country has no native grapes, and were introduced from Europe and South Africa in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Some varieties have been bred by Australian viticulturalists, for example Cienna. About 130 different grape varieties are used by commercial winemakers in Australia.

In recent years organic wines have been increasing in popularity, following a worldwide trend. In 2004 Australia hosted the First International Biodynamic Wine Forum which brought together biodynamic wine producers from around the globe. Despite the overproduction of grapes many organic and biodynamic growers have enjoyed continuing demand thanks to the premium prices winemakers can charge for their organic and biodynamic products.

Australian wineries

Australian wineries have hit the world stage, and are widely recognised for producing consistently high quality, fruit driven Australian Wines. The largest volume of wine is produced from grapes grown in the warm climate Murray-Darling Basin zones of Lower Murray, North Western Victoria and Big Rivers. In general, the higher-value premium wines are made from smaller and cooler-climate regions.

There's probably no better way to get acquainted than to drive or take a tour to one of the Australian wine regions. If you're visiting Australia, take time to go wine-tasting in the vineyards at one or more of the Australian wine regions. Wineries may host tours, group functions, wine-tasting, as well as serve traditional Australian fare.

Escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life to Honeysuckle Cottages to enjoy the crisp, clean mountain air, the country hospitality and the unique scenery of the Granite Belt, renowned for its fruit, wines and rocky National Parks. Rare Australian Wine
http://www.rareaustralianwine.com/

Looking for that special bottle of wine but cant find it? We can search Australia and the world through our network of collectors, customers and traders to find what you are looking for. We also keep an eye on the wine auctions and can bid on your behalf. Bottles will be inspected prior to bidding to guarantee the quality of your purchase. Some extremely old and rare wines can take weeks or months to find so patience is required!

Rare Australian Wine Merchants use temperature and humidity controlled cellars - 14 degrees celcius, 70% humidity. Cellars are held in Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide to allow fast delivery to your destination. Wine stored incorrectly will prematurely age and damage to the wine will occur. Our storage facilities offer the best possible cellaring conditions, allowing the wine to mature in the bottle properly.

Wine Selectors - A Better Way To Buy Wine
http://www.wineselectors.com.au/

At Wine Selectors we love to talk about wine. After all, it’s a subject we know intimately. But, when there’s so much wine about, why is it better to buy with us? It’s better because it’s a flexible and convenient way to buy wine. You’re in control, which means you get what you want when you want it. It’s better because we offer a wide range of products you won’t find in a bottle shop and it’s better because every wine is selected by a Tasting Panel of experts, meaning you only ever get quality wine at surprisingly affordable prices.
For 29 years now we’ve been talking to wine producers, building rapport and rock solid relationships. That’s a lot of chatting and a lot of wine discoveries unearthed from over 400 producers Australia wide. It’s not just the big wineries we deal with either, we specialise in sourcing wines from boutique operations meaning that you’ll often find wines that would only be available at cellar door.

Winestate
http://www.winestate.com.au/

Winestate. Australia's National Wine Magazine. Winestate is published bi-monthly and is full of reviews, tasting notes and informative articles. Educating you palate is easier than you think and will enhance your enjoyment of Australia's many wine styles, grape varieties and regions. Here are some simple steps on how to go about tasting your wine.
The order of the wines that you taste is important too. Start with sparkling wine, followed by whites and then the reds. First make sure you are not wearing any strong perfumes and other aromas are not competing with the smell of your wine. Make sure the room is well lit and you have sufficient light to view the appearance. Clear your palate with a glass of water or a dry water biscuit.

The Australian Premium Wine Collection TM
http://www.tapwc.com.au/

Think of The Australian Premium Wine Collection™ as a great Australian Wine List. My selections incorporate wonderfully distinctive expressions of varietals that Australia is readily known for, and also importantly varietals that we do magical things with, but are still relatively unknown for. The wines of The Collection are available in 37 States across the USA, as well as Puerto Rico. To find out where the nearest Wine Store or Restaurant locations are, just fill in the form. Be sure to provide State and City/Town details, so we can advise you of the nearest Wine Store and Restaurant locations.

I love wines that are intensely flavored, highly aromatic and expressive. But above all else, I love wines that are born with natural balance and harmony. In other words, “no arms or legs” sticking out; no excessive acidity, no excessive tannins, no excessive alcohol and no excessive oak. There is no doubt that wines that exhibit natural balance and harmony will always provide greater enjoyment and drinking pleasure.
